OPINION
Competition needed in grocery to help stabilize food prices, Nov. 15 Finally, I am mad enough about our current situation in Canada regarding the grocery chainsto take the time to offer an opinion. Loblaws unashamedly announced its last quarter profit of $621 million while Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank is adding 12,000 new “customers” every month. We don’t need a committee to spend time and taxpayers dollars to tell us who is to blame — profit and greed are self explanatory and the answer is easy. Every dollar of the grocery stores profit before COVID should be fully taxed and a reduction in the price of every grocery item should follow. Steps to make sure that the stores are complying must be implemented and adhered to. Patricia Melhuish, Oakville
