Packers may have tough time stopping the Eagles

NORTHSTAR B E TS

Every NFL team is in action this week, our first full slate since Week 5. The Eagles will look to become the first to reach double-digit victories when they host the Packers on Sunday night, before the Week 12 slate ends with a Monday nighter between the Steelers and Colts. Here’s how the NorthStar Bets team sees things going against the spread:

Sunday

Falcons (+4 1⁄2)

at Commanders, 1 p.m.

Avery Perri says: The Commanders have covered in five of their last six games with a push mixed in. Ron Rivera’s defence has stepped up big time, allowing just 57 rushing yards per game over their last three. The Falcons have an incredibly runheavy offence and a bad defence. This should be a cakewalk for Taylor Heinicke and Co.

Pick: Commanders

Ravens (-4) at Jaguars, 1 p.m. Steven Psihogios says: There are a lot of questions surrounding Baltimore’s offence. Lamar Jackson is dealing with a hip injury, Ronnie Stanley didn’t practise and Mark Andrews was just OK in his return. The Jaguars are well-rested, at home and coming off a bye. I’ll take Jacksonville as a live dog.

Pick: Jaguars

Bears (+6) at Jets, 1 p.m. Psihogios says: We’ll likely see both No. 2 quarterbacks, a development that certainly favours New York. Zach Wilson’s only in his second season, but he may have already played his way out of the starting job. Trevor Siemian presents a noticeable downgrade from Justin Fields, and the Jets’ defence should give him all sorts of problems. Pick: Jets

Bengals (-2 1⁄2) at Titans, 1 p.m. Jordan Horrobin says: Cincinnati’s 7-3 ATS record is great, but Tennessee has covered eight games in a row. The Titans’ streak began with a straight-up win as home underdogs, and we’ll happily take the points to keep the ball rolling. Pick: Titans

Broncos (-2) at Panthers, 1 p.m. Chris Toman says: If you’re trying to turn someone into a football fan, don’t put this game on the screen. If you’re betting on it, close your eyes and take Denver. Carolina scored three points last game, has a dire QB situation and is going up against one of the best pass defences. Broncos games are always close and while needing them to win is a tough pill to swallow, a field goal feels right in this spot.

Pick: Broncos

Texans (+13 1⁄2) at Dolphins, 1 p.m. Nick Ashbourne says: Although the Texans are 1-8-1, they have only lost by 14 points or more once this season. The blueprint for dominating Houston has been exploiting its horrendous run defence, but only five teams have fewer rushing yards than the Dolphins.

Pick: Texans

Buccaneers (-3 1⁄2) at Browns, 1 p.m. Psihogios says: Cleveland is one of the worst defensive teams, ranked 31st in defence-adjusted value over average per Football Outsiders. Tampa Bay was playing better before a bye week, winning back-toback games. Expect Tom Brady and the Bucs to have no troubles on offence.

Pick: Buccaneers

Raiders (+3 1⁄2) at Seahawks, 4:05 p.m. Psihogios says: Seattle has covered in four of its past five games, narrowly missing as an underdog two weeks ago in Germany. The Seahawks are 3-1 ATS at home this year, while the Raiders are just 2-4 ATS on the road.

Pick: Seahawks

Chargers (-3) at Cardinals, 4:05 p.m. Horrobin says: Coming off a strong effort against the Chiefs, L.A. owns a three-game ATS win streak and has earned favourite status on the road. Kyler Murray is expected to start for Arizona, but he’s working with career-worst yards per attempt (6.0) and QB rating (86.9). Pick: Chargers

Rams (+15 1⁄2) at Chiefs, 4:05 p.m. Toman says: This is a huge spread for the Chiefs to cover, something they have struggled to do. K.C. has failed to cover the three times it was a7 1⁄2- point favourite or larger and is 3-6-1 ATS overall. But the Rams are even worse (2-7-1), decimated by injuries and have lost six of their past seven games. There’s no reason to believe this game will be anything but a blowout.

Pick: Chiefs

Saints (+9 1⁄2) at 49ers, 4:25 p.m. Ashbourne says: San Francisco has won three in a row by a combined score of 91-40. The 49ers are getting healthy, but the same can’t be said of the Saints who have their top corner, linebacker and defensive end — plus the left side of their O-line — listed as questionable. Pick: 49ers

Packers (+6 1⁄2) at Eagles, 8:20 p.m. Perri says: The Eagles looked unstoppable through eight games but have hit a road bump. A loss to Washington plus a razor-thin victory over the Colts have raised questions. That said, I’m comfortable backing the Birds to win by a TD at home in prime time. Aaron Rodgers has little to work with, and the Packers’ rush defence is among the NFL’s worst.

Pick: Eagles

Monday

Steelers (+2 1⁄2) at Colts, 8:15 p.m. Perri says: Neither team inspires much confidence, but I’m liking Pittsburgh on the road. T.J. Watt and Co. had a tough time against Joe Burrow last week, but the defence should be able to get right against a washed-up Matt Ryan. We’re also expecting the Steelers offence to continue making strides. Pick: Steelers

Season records Ashbourne: 76-69-5 (didn’t pick in Week 11) | Toman: 81-77-6 | Psihogios: 80-78-6 | Horrobin: 76-82-6 | Perri: 74-84-6
