We are in a climate change war

A red moon, hazy skies, poor air quality: Toronto is feeling the effects of Quebec wildfires, June 5

I woke this morning to a blood red sun and the smell of smoke in the air.

We are at war in every province of the country. Not an imaginary war with China or Russia. No need for new F-35 fighter jets. We are in a climate change war and we need water bombers and we need them now. How many water bombers does each province own? How fast can we build or buy new ones? Fires are burning in every province and it is still spring. We rely on volunteer firefighters and they are in short supply. This summer could be hell on Earth.

We are really at war with ourselves, with our fossil fuel dependent civilization. It will take decades to transition and we will still need vast amounts of fossil fuels.

We are in big trouble and may have left it too late. We have had warnings since the ’60s that this was approaching and now it has arrived with a vengeance.
