Canada No. 7 in rankings

The Canadian women dropped one place to No. 7 in the latest FIFA world rankings, overtaken by Spain in the lead-up to next month’s Women’s World Cup. Canada played just one match, losing 2-1 to France, since the last rankings in late March. The top five remained the same with the U.S. topping the list ahead of Germany, Sweden, England and France. Australia, one of Canada’s Group B opponents at the World Cup. remains No. 10. Ireland (22nd) and Nigeria (40th) are Canada’s other first-round foes.
