Jackets deal for Severson

The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired Damon Severson from the New Jersey Devils on Friday after the veteran defenceman and soonto-be free agent signed an eightyear, $50-million (U.S.) contract. The Blue Jackets sent a thirdround pick (No. 80) in this month’s draft to the Devils. Severson had 58 goals and 205 assists in 647 career appearances with the Devils since making his NHL debut in 2014-15.
