Tories must leave Speaker Fergus alone

Demands for Speaker to resign after he appears in Liberal tribute video, Dec. 4

It would be a real shame if House of Commons Speaker Greg Fergus were to resign. It seems he made a video supporting a friend. It was intended to be kept within a small group of people. Of course, someone shared it. That is not Fergus’ fault. The Conservatives will jump at any chance to get rid of him because he is just too civil. By all accounts he is decent human being who deplores chaos and nastiness. In the House, he tries to control a group of rambunctious, ill-disciplined brats more interested in politicking than getting the business of government done. If he is made to resign it will be because he is too good at his job.
